Blues, Brews & BBQ has all the elements one would expect – three musical stages, twenty micro-brewed beers, several wineries, and lots of BBQ. The twenty beers featured in the Backyard Beer Garden in Napa Valley will include some that beer drinkers don’t normally get to taste, including two each from Blue Moon Brewery (who is sponsoring the event) Lagunitas, Pyramid Ale, Dogfish, Alaskan and New Belgium Brewing. Also on tap will be micro-brews from Boston Beer, 21st Amendment and four others.

Stopped at Goodwill today to donate some items. I was truly impresed with how nicely the store was set up and the items were displayed. I was happy to see that the items I donated would go on to bring joy to some other family!

I also can't help but mention I did walk out of there with a purchase for a brand new Margarita Party set. 6 glasses and a margarita pitcher all in orginal packaging. It was just the perfect find for the Senoritas and Margaritas party I am hosing next week. I guess at Good will you never know what you're gonna get. It pays to have some good will! www.goodwill.com

There is something whimsical about the country air, windy roads, beautiful mountains, and a peaceful drive that always brings me to clarity. Upon my arrival I think this is what life is all about. What to do when hunger strikes you at a wedding or formal event

Weddings or formal events like Gala’s and Black Tie affairs can often be long and drawn out. There is often a schedule of events strictly followed which often means the snacks or dinner will be served at a set time. Instead of running to the back to sneak food from the kitchen or finding your nearest exit to take a trip to the nearest drive through here are some tips to help distract you from your hunger pains.

Tips:
1. Chew a piece of gum to give yourself the false satisfaction of eating
2. Drink a large class of water to help temporally feel your stomach up
3. Get up and Move. Take a spin on the dance floor. Burn some calories in advance before you eat.
4. Find five people you don’t know and introduce yourself.
5. Provide your assistance. Ask the event coordinator if they need any additional help. Perhaps some extra help will result in the food being served quicker!

And most importantly avoid alcohol consumption until you have eaten. To much alcohol on a empty stomach will result in you spending the rest of the night hugging the porcelain god.

Set your goals for 2010

As 2010 sneaks up on us I suggest making a goals sheet for your self. Identify your top five goals in three difference areas, Personal, Business, and Fun. The Personal section is where you can write down goals such as weight loss, love and relationships, growing your bank account, etc. In the Business section you want to focus on your career goals. Perhaps you want to focus on finding a new job, going back to school, or taking necessary steps to get a raise or promotion. If you are running your own business perhaps you may want to focus on growing your revenue. Make sure in this section you don’t just create a goal. You should also associate an action on how you will achieve your goal. For example your goal may be to increase your revenue and your action may be increasing your marketing efforts in order to accomplish your goal. Finally the last section is fun. Create goals in the Fun section that allow you to see the fruits of your labor. Perhaps your goal is to go on a week long vacation, or finally go to the Grand Canyon. Maybe it’s as simple as taking swimming lessons because you never learned how to swim. In the Fun section include anything you enjoy but have been putting off for way to long.

A good friend shared with me a fun way to spice up this a traditional baked Brie treat:
Instead of using the regular puff pastry use their puff pastries that come in little cup sizes. You can drop a little brie and a little jam in each cup and bake. You can also add cranberries or some almonds on top. YUMMMMMMMMM! It seems much easier to eat and share as an appetizer. You can also cut the shape of holiday berries and leaves to put on top. It will not only look but taste great as well.

How to Survive Wedding Season on a budget- Wardrobe

If you plan on attending multiple weddings during wedding season and are on a tight budget try to limit yourself to only purchasing one new outfit. My suggestion is to purchase a simple cocktail dress. Nothing with sequence, or fancying beading. Just a simple dress in a neutral color like black, tan, brown, or blue. Because you may be wearing this dress to all or the majority of the weddings you are attending selecting a dress with neutral colors that can be dressed up or dressed down will give your outfit more longevity. You will also have the ability to add different accessories, purses or shoes to give your outfit a different look. You can also add a sweater or scarf to your dress as well to enhance or change the appearance.
